International Institute of Social History, University of Leiden, Leiden, 26-29 March 2026

Andrea Azzarelli and Matteo Millan presented at the European Social Science History Conference in March 2025, in a panel on the history of arms in Europe organized by Rosamund Johnston and chaired by Catherine Fletcher. Other panelists included Leo Stauber, who discussed Austrian arms production in the 1950s, and Tomáš Nigrin, who explored Czechoslovakia’s arm trade after 1948.

Andrea Azzarelli presented GlobArms, focusing on the international circulation of arms, while Matteo Millan presented Eu-Guns, examining the evolution of gun control in Europe before the Second World War. The panel offered insights into how firearms, state authority, and citizen practices interacted across different European contexts and historical periods.
