Eu-Guns/GlobArms Teams: “An Armed Nation Versus a Disarmed Continent? Gun Culture and Gun Control in the USA and Europe”
American Historical Association Conference – Chicago, USA
In January, the EU-GUNS and GlobArms projects took part in the Annual Meeting of the American Historical Association in Chicago, the world’s largest annual gathering of historians. The conference offered a valuable opportunity to engage with both established and new colleagues and to present ongoing research on the history of European gun cultures, gun control, arms trade, and the smuggling of firearms.
On Friday, 9 January, the EU-GUNS project organised a three-session panel entitled “An Armed Nation Versus a Disarmed Continent? Gun Culture and Gun Control in the USA and Europe”, held from 8.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. at the Palmer House Hilton (sessions no. 75, 101, and 125). The sessions addressed the current state of research on European and U.S. gun cultures and gun control, and fostered a comparative discussion of recent findings in the field.
